8 Week Class
Saturdays 12:30-3pm, January 5th through February 23rd
$320 per student includes all materials
Foundations of Oil Painting is ideal for someone who wants to start oil painting, for those who want to learn some new techniques, or for those with oil painting experience who need more information on the proper way to use their materials. Students will work both from life and from photos with the opportunity to explore personalized subject matter after working through initial projects.
12 Week Class
Mondays 6:00-8:30pm beginning January 7th
Class Fee $480
Class will cover all aspects of figure and portrait drawing (primarily in charcoal) and painting in oil. Basics as well as advanced concepts will be covered, so it is appropriate for students of any ability level.
6 Week Class in Overland Park
Tuesdays 6pm-8pm 1/08-2/12
Fee per student: $215 includes all materials
This class is great for beginners as well as for artists who want to increase the sense of depth, form, and accuracy in their drawings or paintings.
1 Day Workshop
Sunday, January 13th 10am-5pm
Class fee is $160 per student, materials provided
Learn to create vibrant skin tones with only FOUR pigments: Red, Green, Black, and White in this two day workshop. With just these four paints, it's possible to give the illusion of all hues of skin tones whether more yellow, orange, pink, or cooler blues and greens.
6 Week Class
Wednesdays 6-8pm January 23rd through February 27th
Class Fee: $235 includes all materials and model fee
Study the major muscles and bones that most affect the surface of the human form. Students will learn about important bones and muscles, and most importantly will learn how to study anatomy and find it evident in the live figure.
Six Installments Online
One lesson weekly beginning January 29th
Fee per student: $150
This class will give you the tools you need to solve both compositional and color mixing problems.
8 Week Class
Sundays, 2:30-5pm February 3rd through March 24th
Class Fee $320
Class will cover all aspects of figure and portrait drawing (primarily in charcoal) and painting in oil. Basics as well as advanced concepts will be covered, so it is appropriate for students of any ability level. Models will be our primary reference, but photos, images of art, etc., will serve as reference as well.
6 Week Class
Wednesdays 9:30am-12pm February 6th through March 13th
Lacey Lewis will teach a 6 week class where she shares her approach to drawing the nude figure from life in charcoal. Students will learn many ways to dynamically view and analyze the figure to achieve accurate proportions without overly relying on height and width measurements.
Possible Future Classes: Pre-Registration Available
Pre-Registration is a way for us to gauge interest in particular classes. There is no commitment to join the class once scheduled, but pre-registering will influence which classes we offer. All who pre-register will be given an advanced opportunity to sign-up.
Other classes and workshops are offered on a rotating basis. Subjects of study include:

Alla prima still life painting
All classes are taught by Lacey Lewis and take place at Red Door Studios in Kansas City, unless otherwise noted. Lacey periodically teaches in other locations and is available to travel for workshops. Feel free to contact us if you'd like a class option not listed!
